I work in technology for more than 10 years. During 3 and half years I was manager in two different companies and after that I decide to return to technical path.
In my career I had worked with very different languages and tools used to solved different problems.
When I change to management was to be able to have some influence in the decisions about the tech part of the project, implement test and make people to use good practices. During the 3 years that I work as manager I was able to have some impact in the tech part of the projects however the political stuff around the role and the quantity of meetings that I had were overtaken my time and I almost had to stop writing code. So, I decide that was not for me. I want more than meetings to decide to scheduler other meetings to align roadmaps and priorities, handler budget and hire people, I want to make stuff, solve issues in code with my hands, not delegate the stuff.
Now, I work as Software Engineer in a company that has a technical path that allow me to focus in the tech parts of the projects, be able to influence others in technical field without the need to be involve in budgets or managing people. I can do what I love to do and what I do best: solve problems related with tech.
